On January 1, 2018, a politically connected outside contractor will be revaluing your home in Nassau County. County Executive Ed Mangano and the Republican Legislature awarded this lucrative $2,000,000+ contract to a politically connected firm only after that firm had donated more than $75,000 to Mangano, Presiding Officer Norman Gonsalves, Republican Legislators and Republican Clubs.

Incredibly, when awarding this Contract, Mangano and the Legislator for the 19th L.D. did not establish stringent guidelines for the Contractor to follow.  The Legislator for the 19 L.D., Steve Rhoads, failed at his most basic duty. He did nothing to ensure that the new rolls would be accurate; he failed to demand that the Legislature receive the assistance of a competent consultant to evaluate the outside contractor's work; and he failed to ensure that the rolls, if accurate,  can be maintained into the future. With less than 7 months to go, before the new rolls come out, the Republican-Controlled Legislature has not even held a single hearing to determine if the work is being performed in a comprehensive and responsible manner.  For more than five years the Republican Legislature has allowed the County Executive to violate the County Charter, and leave in place an Acting Assessor that lacks the credentials and background necessary to assess property in County this large, and a County website that improperly furnishes false information to residents about their home value, and whether or not they should file a grievance.

As a former Member of the Nassau County Board of Assessors, Jeff knows what needs to be done to make sure that the Revaluation is done properly, and just as he has done with his 9000 member Facebook Group - Nassau Grieve Your Tax Assessment Free - he will put in the necessary hours to make sure that the residents of the 19th L.D., and thus all Nassau Residents,  are fairly assessed.

Independence Day Support For Local 812

The Clare Rose Teamsters have now been on strike for nearly 3 months.   They had to be walk the picket lines to day in support of their individual life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, so I picked up some ice cold treats and joined them in Melville.   A perfect way to spend Independence Day.

Gold Cleans Up Nassau

While petitioning, I noticed that graffiti has become prevalent throughout the district.  Rather than ignore it, as our politicians do, I decided to do something about. A quick trip to ACE Hardware in Bellmore, and I'm already serving the community by cleaning up graffiti.  And the best part is, others are now following me, and are doing the same thing.  Thrilled to be working for the residents of the 19th L.D. prior to Election Day.

Campaign Kickoff A Huge Success

Thanks to all who came down to support the Jeff Gold for Legislator Campaign Kickoff. It was a huge success as more than 200 people came to enjoy Jazz, politics, hot dogs and ice cream.    We made new friends, signed up many new volunteers, raised $300+ for the striking Clare Rose Teamsters, and Long Island Cares will get more than 20 pounds of sealed hot dogs that we didn't used.  That's a win win win.
